The <a href="http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/keychain/" rel="nofollow">documentation for keychain</a> may be very helpful, and it has a couple of links to DeveloperWorks articles that go into it all in depth. If I have time and remember, I'll try to root through some Google results and see if I can find some good reading. There's a lot of really confusing, poorly-written stuff out there, unfortunately.
