This information isn’t of interest to most casual MySQL users – or perhaps even most existing MySQL users, period – but it’s of great interest to iSeries users.

I don’t think there is an expectation that suddenly a bunch of MySQL users will go out and purchase iSeries machines (although I’m sure IBM wouldn’t mind that), but rather that existing iSeries users see a compelling new value proposition in leveraging MySQL on their platform of choice. It just makes sense to me that the bulk of communication be focused on iSeries users (which I presume you are not), rather than blasting the general MySQL user base.
