It’s simply flawless.”

I wish I also could say that. I’ve been using Fedora on my work laptop(s) since Fedora core 3 (or maybe 4, cant remember) and I’ve never had a problem (using different Dell models for the most part), until now.
Just got a new Dell Latitude 6320 and Fedora 15 wont even install. Went back to F14 and it installs, but is then kernel-panicking all over the place..
In the end I just gave up and ended up using Kubuntu 11.04.
Works like a charm, but its not Fedora ;-)

I hope things pick up with F16.

regards
/Peter

That sounds fantastic. I will look into that. Thanks!

You can put anything in the file, but I’ve been happy with INI format (using modeline “; vim: ft=dosini”).

I haven’t done this yet, but since it’s just gpg’ed text file, it’d be easy to write all kinds of little scripts to get stuff out of the file, then pass is to “xsel”.

After installing “vim-gnome” and parcellite, I can cut & paste directly from vim in a terminal (urxvt). It’s magic and just kind of works.

The other cool thing is that I’ve been able to put my passwords in my homedir/dotfiles mercurial repository and always have them with me. “hg vimdiff” even works.

It’s as easy as “vim pwsafe.gpg”

I feel the same way about forcing myself to learn new techniques and break old habits to get the most out of it. Managing handfuls of terminal windows with the right geometry and placement is my biggest challenge on the desktop.

I’d be really interested to hear your impressions after you’ve had more time to get more comfortable with gnome 3.

Thanks. I haven’t tried that yet. I’m waiting until I learn a bit more and decide whether I need changes, or I just need to learn the new interface. I like to customize things as little as possible from the defaults.
